This scan is offered to mothers, if they have bleeding during the first few weeks of pregnancy or if they have history of miscarriage. This scan is done normally at 6 to 10 weeks, and most of the time is using vaginal scanning. The following information can be derived during the scan:
- Baby heart rate detection
- No of baby in the womb
- Location of the baby in the womb, to confirm the place is correct.
- Confirmation of the date of delivery comparing it again the first day of mother’s period.
This scan is very reassuring to parents as it acts as the 1st proof to the parents the existence of the baby in the womb.
